Abraham Hallman, "was born April 21st, 1832. He is married to Mary, daughter of the late Rev. George Schmidt. They reside on his father's old homestead where he is engaged in farming.

Abraham married Maria Schmidt. Maria (daughter of Rev. George R. Schmidt and Salome Becker) was born on 6 Feb 1837 in Waterloo County, Ontario; died on 28 Oct 1905 in Blenheim Township, Oxford County, Ontario; was buried in Blenheim Mennonite Cemetery. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Joseph Hallman, "was born September 15th, 1808. In 1831 he was married to Susannah, daughter of Henry M. and Sarah (Bergey) Clemmer. She was born December 29th, 1810, and died February 15th, 1854. In 1856 he was again married to Elizabeth, daughter of John Clemmer. She was born October 29th, 1820, and died March 27th, 1860. In 1866 he was again married to Magdalena, daughter of David and Elizabeth (Bechtel) Eby. She was born December 12th, 1813, and died April 2nd, 1886. See No. 2371 and also Nos. 926 to 951. After Mr. Hallman's first marriage he moved to Manheim, on the farm now possessed by Peter Geiger, where he resided four years, then he moved on the farm now owned by Samuel Tohman, a little west of New Dundee, where they resided one year, then he moved to Blenheim Township, Oxford County, about one and a half miles south-west of New Dundee, where he still resides and is enjoying good health. His family consisted of fourteen children, all of whom, save the youngest, are of first wife."

In 1856 he was again married to Elizabeth, daughter of John Clemmer. She was born October 29th, 1820, and died March 27th, 1860. In 1866 he was again married to Magdalena, daughter of David and Elizabeth (Bechtel) Eby. She was born December 12th, 1813, and died April 2nd, 1886. After his first marriage he moved to Mannheim, on the farm now in possession of Peter Geiger, where he resided four years, then he moved on the farm now owned by Samuel Toman, a little west of New Dundee, the farm which was afterwards owned by his younger brother Wendell, where they resided one year; then he moved to Blennheim Township, Oxford County, about one and a half miles south-west of New Dundee, on a large farm, where he lived till his death. His family consisted of twelve children, all of whom, save the youngest, are of the first wife. He was one of those firm minded men of whom not a few were to be found amoung those old fathers who came from Pennsylvania. Though of a kindly disposition and high moral principles, when once his mind was made up, it was difficult for him to change it. He was a member of the Mennonite Church, and adhered strictly to these principles to his death. His life and conduct were such as would make an impression for good on his fellowmen and family. Though he was inclined, perhaps, to discount the views of others if they did not agree with him on religious lines, yet, we have reason to believe he was honest in his convictions. He lived on the old homestead in the residence shown below.

Joseph married Susanna Clemmer in 1831. Susanna (daughter of Henry M. Clemmer and Sarah Bergey) was born on 29 Dec 1810 in Franconia Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania; died on 15 Feb 1854; was buried in Blenheim Mennonite Cemetery. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Benjamin was born Sept. 18, 1783 in Montgomery Co., Pa where he followed farming. During the great financial depression of 1816-1827 many farmers failed financially and, in order to pay their debts, they sold their farms at great sacrifice. With whatever money they had left, they winded their way to Canada where land could be had cheap and thus made another attempt to gain a free home. As a rule, all these parties in a very few years were the posessors of valuable farms. Benjamin moved to Canada with his family in 1825.

They left Montgomery on May 6, and with two double horse teams and one single horse, crossed the Niagara River from Lewiston to Queenston on a large flat boat and winded their way up to Dundas and through the Beverly Swamp to Waterloo County arriving at Jacob Rosenburger's near Preston where they made a stay of 3 days. Then they moved on a farm 2 miles west of Waterloo. Here he resided until the spring of 1826 when he moved to N. Dumfries Twp. about 1 mile east of Roseville where he had purchased a most beautiful farm of about 200 acres, then nearly all forest. Here Banjamin died Sept. 10, 1879.

He was a member of the mennonite church and lived a strictly moral life. Principles of Christianity were always foremost in his dealings with his fellow men. His advice to his grandchildren was always good. "My earliest recollection of him was when he held us on his knee and instructed us to be a good boy. Three of his sons and a number of gradsons and great grand sons entered the ministry.

On Sept. 2, 1802 he married Elizabeth Dettweiller, daughter of Jacob and Margaret (Harley) Dettweiller.

Elizabeth (daughter of Jacob Detweiler and Mary Margaret Harley) was born on 8 Aug 1784; died on 9 Aug 1856; was buried in on farm 1 mile east of Roseville / Hallman Mennonite Cemetery, North Dumfries Township, Ontario.
