      By Edna (Beaver) Robertson 1969

Peter Beaver (II) - 1st son of Peter Beaver

He was the eldest son of Peter I and was born in Alsace on Oct. 21, 1806. When he came to Puslinch in 1832, he was 26 years old and unmarried. Old records state that he was a Lutheran in religion, then Evangelical and a Liberal in politics. He was given lot 25 and he cleared 50 acres of his farm. Peter’s tombstone in Crown Cemetery, Morriston, states that he died Dec. 21, 1876, aged 70 years, 2 months. This old white marker is near the newer marker of the Nicholas Beaver family. It is interesting to note that Crown Cemetery is on lot 28. The first burial was in the early 1830’s but no records of burials were kept for more than 50 years. Each time a plot was required, it was chosen at random.

His first wife was Christina Yantz whose sister, Charlotte, married Peter’s brother, Nicholas. They had two daughters.

      1. Christina
      2. Magdalena, born June 3, 1834.

After the death of his first wife, he married Catherine Saloma Motz, who was born in Germany in 1814. She died in Gagetown, MI on Sept. 11, 1899 and is buried in Grant Cemetery. They had five children.

      1. Christian, born Dec. 1841

      2. Henry (Big Jim), born Feb. 10, 1850

      3. Michael, born 1852

      4. Louisa, born Sept 26th, ?

      5. Frederick, born March 12, 1859
