  • Notes  Died:
    • Parkhill Gazette Sept 26, 1929

"Mrs Charles Shoemaker died in Sarnia Hospital on Saturday Sept 14, 1929 following an operation performed five weeks ago. She was 65 years and 6 days of age. She was born in the county of Huron, Hay Township where she lived for 39 years. About 26 years ago she moved to Parkhill with her husband and family and has resided here ever since. She was well known and had many warm friends. She attended the Anglican Church and was an active member of the St James Church Guild where her cheerfully rendered services were greatly appreciated. She was always cheerful and she performed her duties in such an efficient and thorough manner that she was a source of strength to those with whom she laboured. She is survived by three daughters and four sons, Mrs W Buckingham, Sarnia, Mrs C Schott Toronto, Miss Clara Shoemaker, Toronto, John Shoemaker, Detroit, Edward Shoemaker, California, Sidney Shoemaker and Addison Shoemaker of Toronto. Many beautiful floral wreaths were sent as testimony of the esteem in which she was held by relatives and friends in Parkhill, Sarnia, Toronto, Zurich and Detroit. The funeral was on Sept 17. Rev T W Lewin conducted services at her home on Queen Street and at the Zurich Cemetery where internment took place. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Brenner of Zurich and Mrs Henry Daer of Auburn; also one brother John Schafer of Parkhill."
