      Rev. Robert Hyde conducted funeral services at the Parker Funeral Home, Fergus, Jan. 31, 1981 for Gordon Smeltzer who died at his residence in Eramosa Township Jan. 29, 1981 in his 80th year.

      He is survived by his wife Z. Mabel Reidt, of RR #1, Rockwood, [...] all of Eramosa Township.

      He is survived by 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, brother Albert, of Florida, sisters Mrs. Annie White, of Grand Valley, Mrs. Mary Colbeck, of Orangeville, Mrs. Stella Miller, of Streetsville and Mrs. Roy MacLeanie of Mono Centre.

      He was predeceased by James and Tressa.

      Mr. Smeltzer was born in Garafraxa and was the son of the late Joseph Smeltzer and Esther Montgomery.

      He farmed the home farm in Garafraxa until 1928 at which time he married the former Z. Mabel Reidt and farmed in Eramosa Township. He had been at his present location since 1934.

      He also did custom work in the area until his retirement several years ago.

      Mr. Smeltzer was a member of the Speedside United Church.

      Interment was at Johnson Cemetery.
