      BAUMAN, Earl S. (1919 - 2008) - Following a lengthy illness, on Friday, May 30, 2008, at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital. Earl S. Bauman in his 90th year, formerly of Elmira and Floradale. Beloved husband for 58 years of Ruby L. (Gies) Bauman who predeceased him in 2004. Dear father of [...]. Predeceased by his parents, Abraham and Lydiann (Shoemaker) Bauman; two brothers and their wives, Walter and Evelyn Bauman, Edward and Ruby Bauman. Earl was a member of the Holstein Association of Canada for 61 years and received the Master Breeder Shield from the association, the highest award bestowed in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Holstein Breed. Over the years, holsteins from his Floraholme Farm at Floradale were exported to over 30 countries. Earl was an innovator in many agricultural projects including the Waterloo County Stockyards, of which he was one of the original founders (now the Ontario Livestock Exchange and St. Jacobs Farmers Market.) The family received their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home , Elmira on Sunday, June 1, 2008 from 1-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon on Monday, June 2, 2008 (today) transfer will be made to Emmanuel Evangelical Missionary Church, 2 First St. W., Elmira for funeral service at 2 p.m. with Rev. George Grierson officiating followed by interment at Calvary United Cemetery, St. Jacobs. As expressions of sympathy the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Cancer Society, or International Teams Canada (Elmira). The Bauman family wish to express appreciation to the staff of K-W Health Centre and Freeport Health Centre, St. Mary's Hospital, St. Jacobs Place and Victoria Place and all the doctors and nurses who have provided compassionate care to Earl over the past four years.
