      Peter O. Peterson, Vang Pioneer, Dies at Home in Windom, Minnesota

      Peter O. Peterson, a pioneer resident of Cavalier County for 55 years, died unexpectedly Friday morning, December 30, 1949, at 3:00am, at his home in Windom, Minn., where he had lived since moving from Langdon in 1942. He was 74 years old at the time of his death.

      Funeral services were held Monday of last week at 2:00pm at the Hanson Funeral Chapel in Windom, with Rev. Edward Lee of the First Methodish Church in charge. Burial was at the Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.

      Peter O. Peterson was born at Pembina March 30, 1875, the son of Olaf and Karen Peterson. He came to the vang vicinity in 1887 as a youth of 12 years, then later homesteaded in that vicinity. He was married to the former Minnie Rogstad, a native of the Milton vicinity, in 1905, at Morden, Man.; then in 1925 moved to Langdon where he worked as a carpenter. In 1942 they sold their farm in the Vang vicinity and their home in Langdon and moved to Windom.

      While living in the Vang vicinity, Mr. Peterson was assessor of Loam township for four years. He was a member of the Lutheran faith.

      Mr. Peterson is survived by his widow, Mrs. Minnie Peterson of Windom, and four daughters: Stella, who is Mrs. A. F. Remington at Windom; Milly, who is Mrs. L. R. Smith of New Richland, Minn.; Olive, who is Mrs. William Krieger of Detroit, Mich.; Evelyn, who is Mrs. Lyle Voge of Thief River Falls, Minn. There are eight grandchildren, [...]. Mr. Peterson also had five brothers and four sisters, six of whom survive. They are Ole, Charlie, and Fred Peterson of Vang; Ida, who is Mrs. E. Curry of Prince Albert, Sask.; Phoebe, who is Mrs. Sam Braaten of Walhalla.

      Those who preceded their brother in death were Adolph and Seward and Nellie, who was Mrs. O. H. Olson.

      Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Charles Peterson and Emil Olson of Vang, Mrs. Lyle Voge of Thief River Falls, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Smith of New Richland, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. William Krieger and daughter Delores, and Gerald and Wayne Padden of Detroit, Mich., and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tschida of St. Paul.
