Death record indicates that he was already missing for about 7 weeks when his body was found in the Ohm river between the Heubrücke (hay bridge) and the Dicknertsmühle (a mill) on 21 Apr 1851 close to Nieder-Gemünden. So his real death date would be something like 3 Mar 1851. He was buried on 22 Apr 1851 after the grand duchal authorities had confirmed the death as an accident.
