Funeral Services Friday for Fred Peterson
Funeral services were held in the Vang Lutheran Church May 24 for Alfred William Peterson, who died of a heart attack at his home at Vang, May 20, 1957. Rev. Karl Xavier officiated and burial was in Vang Cemetery.
Pall bearers were six nephews, Milo Peterson, Ole K. Olson, Emil Olson, Grant Braaten, Alfred and Alvin Peterson. Honorary pallbearers were Jacob Romfo, Ole Romfo, Martin Danielson, August Johnson, Hans Olson and Andrew Anderson.
Alfred William Peterson was born January 29, 1885, at Mountain, to Olaf and Carolyn Peterson. He was married in 1914 to Clara Formo of Elkwood, and two children were born to them. They are a son, Leonard, of Grand Forks, and a daughter, Lela, who is Mrs. Robert Miller of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Mr. Peterson was a member of the Vang Lutheran Church and lived his entire lifetime in the Vang community, except for two years spent at Glendale, Sask. In his earlier years, he operated a custom trucking business; and at the time of his death, operated the telephone exchange and a gasoline station at Vang.
He is survived by his wife and both of their children, two grandchildren, two brothers, Charlie and Ole of Vang; and two sisters, Mrs. Sam Braaten, Phoebe, of California; and Sarah of Brinsmade. Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Those coming from a distance to attend the funeral were his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Miller, and his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Peterson and family, of Grand Forks, North Dakota. (Also) Mr. and Mrs. Milo Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Peterson, Sadie Andreson of Seattle, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Erickson of St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Soli of Grand Forks, N.D.; Mrs. Nellie Mostad of Larimore; Ole Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Peterson, Mrs. Bertha Peterson, Mr. Charlie Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Peterson of Minnewaukan; Mrs. Gerhard Ronholm, Finley, N.D.; and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Oien of Edmore, North Dakota.
