|
| Confirmation record of Bertil Olson Tingelstad Bertil was confirmed Oct. 21, 1838 in Nykyrkje church, parish of Modum by Pastor Bekk.
The confirmation record states Bertil Olson Tingelstad, son of Ola Toreson and "wife" Kari Kristoffersdotter of Hallerdalen "under" Korsbøen (this meaning that Ola & Kari were living on Hallerdalen, which at that time, was part of the larger farm, Korsbøen).
The record states Bertil was born November 13, 1823 and vaccinated on April 23, 1836.
For his religious knowledge, diligence, etc. it states "likså" which means "the same". This appears to be referring to person # 22 where the priest enters "g" for his religious knowledge (believed is short for "god" which means "good").
This is the second document that has Bertil being referred to the farm Tingelstad. The other document was his marriage record in 1852. In the marriage record it asks for the Name and position of Groom, which was written "bachelor Bertil Olson Tingelstad" and in the next column it asks for the birthplace and place of residence of groom, which was written his birth place was Korsbøen (as Hallerdalen falls under this farm) and his residence as being Skrettebergeie. |
| Marriage record of Bertil Olson Skretteberg and Maren Turina Vilhelmsdotter Bertil Olson was a bachelor living on Tingelstad farm (in Modum parish) when he married on December 28, 1852 in the Heggen Church (built around 1200), in Modum parish to the maiden (never married before) Maren Turina Vilhelmsdotter who was living on the Skretteberg farm. After their marriage, the couple resided on the Skretteberg farm. |
| Census 1865, parish of Modum, Buskerud County, Norway 1865 Census shows Bertil and his family listed in in the Modum Parish. His occupation is listed as farmer and he is indicated to by the owner of his farm. Bertil is listed as living on the "Pedersbraathen" farm. This is now spelt Persbråten and is a part of the Skretteberg farm. |
| Emigration Record For Family of Bertil Olson This record lists emigrants Bertil Olson, his wife Maren, and their son Torger. As well, their daughter Anne (Karine) and her husband Torvald and their two sons Gustav and Gotfred left Norway with them. They left Oslo (Oslo was called by its Danish name of "Christiania" at that time) on June 11, 1885 on the ship "Hekla" www.norwayheritage.com/p_ship.asp?sh=heklb. Destination would be St. Vincent, Minnesota on the north-east border of North Dakota.
Under occupations, Bertil is listed as being a "Labourer", Maren as "Married", Torger and Torvald as a "Labourer", Anne as "Married" and both Gustav and Gotfred as a "Child". "år" meaning year, the record may be indicating that Gustav was 11 months of age and Gotfred was one month old.
