Garrison Ray Ballard was born August 6, 1878 at Dodge County, MN to Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Ballard. He married Bessie Hilma Larson at Pelican Rapids, MN November 6, 1905. Bessie was born August 11, 1887 at Becker County, MN to Mr. and Mrs. Erik Larson, who had come from Sweden.
Mr. and Mrs. Garrison Ray Ballard came to Plaza in the spring of 1906 and homesteaded in Osloe Township. They had six children all born at their farm who are all still living.
Garrison Ray Ballard died June 25, 1931 at Plaza. In the fall of 1940 Mrs. Bessie Ballard and the three youngest moved back to Pelican Rapids where she is still living.
The children are: Florence (Mrs. Ben Backness), Plaza; Mable (Mrs. Albin Hammer), Plaza; Hazle (Mrs. John Miller), Havre, MT; George, Pelican Rapids, MN; Ralph, Pelican Rapids, MN; Evelyn (Mrs. Allen Wiig), Minnetonka, MN.
