- From his Obit:
Mr. John A. South an old resident of Conajaharie, father of Mrs Joseph Knapp,of this village died suddenly Saturday morning last. He had been ill for some months but had attended to his business until Friday afternoon when he went home complaining of feeling ill and shortly afterwards, fainted. He recovered for a short time and then again became insensible and remained in that condition until he died. He had been Justice of the Peace for several years.
