JOSEPH WEGLEY SUCCOMBS HERE
Joseph Wegley, 79, old-time resident of Williston, died at his home Sat.
Jan. 5 (1946). Funeral services will be Wed. Jan. 9th at the Methodist
Church with Rev. Stuart A. Parvin officiating. Burial will be in Riverview
Cemetery with the Masonic graveside services.
Mr. Wegley was born March 29, 1866 (should be 1867) in Mercer County, Ohio. When he was nine years old he moved with his parents to Lockington, Ohio where he grew up and attended school. In 1887 he started west to be a cowboy, and stayed in Glendive, Montana until 1892, working at ranches between there and the Missouri River. In that year he went to Langdon, North Dakota where he operated a ranch until coming to Williston in 1904.
He was married here in 1904 to Miss Tina Olson, and entered the feed and livery business, which he operated until 1915, when he sold out, continuing to live here. For a time he was engaged in the livestock business, retiring a few years ago. Mr. Wegley was a member of the Masonic and Odd Fellows lodges.
Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Ralph Tschida (Ollie) of St. Paul, Mrs. Henry Smith (Edna) of Sidney, Montana, Mrs. Glen Boyce (Dora) of Williston and eight sons, Earle of Minneapolis, Theodore of Mankato, Howard, Charles, Cloyd, Lester, Orville and Joseph, Jr. all of Williston.
One brother, Fred of San Antonio, Texas and two sisters in Ohio also survive him.
The remains will lie in state at the Everson Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.
