MALTA - Ione F. Corney, 98 years, a homemaker, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005 a the Country Home in Malta of natural causes.
Graveside services will be at 1pm Wedensday, Dec. 28, in the Malta Cemetery. Viewing will take place at the Adams Memorial Chapel prior to going to the cemetery. There will be Memorial Services next summer. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.

She was predeceased in death by her husband Lyman in 1981, daughter, June Marie Hodgson in 2000 and great grandson Christopher Matthews in 1999, sons-in-law, Vern Matthews and Don Sudbrack.
Ione Farrel Fielder was born the third of seven children to Marian and Evah (Sammons) Fielder near Tagus, North Dakota on Dec. 19, 1907. They moved to Spalding, Sask., Canada in 1912 where she grew up and finished her schooling. She married her first sweetheart Lyman Corney there on April 4, 1930. They moved to the Bob Sammons Farm (Uncle Bob) South of Loring to care for her grandparents and work the farm.
She moved to Malta after Lyman's death and to the Country Home five years ago.
Ione enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, canning and especially baby sitting. Many of the children she babysat considered her their grandma. She considered all the staff and residents of the Country Home to be family, as well as her many dear friends and neighbors.
