William J. Moore
The death occurred on Friday, Nov. 5, 1937, of Wm. J. Moore, aged 74 years. He was born on the Second Concession of Normanby in 1863, and had lived there all his life excepting the last three years which were spent in Toronto, where he passed away after an illness of three weeks, his daughter Nellie being at his bedside until the end, which came very peaceably.
Mr. Moore was well known and respected, having threshed in the surrounding country nearly all his life. He was a member of the Orange Order for nearly sixty years and they performed the last rites at the grave. The funeral took place from the residence of his son, Mr. Thos. Moore, on Monday, Nov. 8, with interment in the Mount Forest Cemetery.
Mr. Moore's wife, born Minnie Weiser, died in February, 1925. There were fourteen children born, seven of whom survive: Wilfred, Calgary, Alberta; Herbert, Toronto; David, Toronto; Robert, Algonac, Mich.; Thos. on the old homestead; Nellie, Mrs. James Brethour, Galt; and Pearl, Mrs. Amos Glasser, of Kleinburg.
