- From the research of Earl Hastings
Howard Hastings was educated at Sintaluta and Fairy Hill, Saskatchewan he worked on his father’s farm and as a farm labourer in the Cupar district of Saskatchewan. After his war service he lived and worked at Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Showing Falls and Vancouver, British Columbia. In Vancouver he was employed as a storekeeper at the Shaughnessy Military Hospital until retirement. Howard Hastings enlisted in the Canadian Army (Royal Canadian Artillery) on 9 August 1940 at Indian Head, Saskatchewan L35210. He served as a gunner in Canada, Britain and Northwest Europe where he was wounded on July 13, 1944. He was discharged at Regina on October 19, 1945.
Howard was residing in Chilliwack, British Columbia at the time of Earl's research.
