Notes |
- From the research of Earl Hastings
Lillian Hastings was educated at Dinsmore, Saskatchewan and on her marriage to Elmer Mick they farmed the homestead of his father. In the fall of 1934 they participated in a resettlement programme to Northern Saskatchewan. The government transported all of their stock and equipment to Meadow Lake.
Elmer Mick told me he arrived in Meadow Lake with $40 and took employment at a livery barn at $1 per day. By the spring of 1936 he had accumulated enough money to make a down payment on a quarter section of land just south of Meadow Lake. It is now the golf course. In 1937 they purchased another quarter section south of Meadow Lake and in 1939 they built a log house on the land. From 1952 to 1963 Elmer operated the farm and worked part-time in a local hotel bar. They sold the farm in 1973 and spent their retirement years in Meadow Lake.
