- At the time of their marriage, Alvin lived in the village of Hensall, Huron County, Ontario and Margaret lived in Tuckersmith Township, Huron County, Ontario. The couple considered relocating to Detroit, Michigan several times. Alvin travelled there in 1914, the year before their marriage. In 1916 the couple lived at 947 18th Street, Detroit, Michigan. Second son, Edgar, was born in Detroit in 1917.
In 1927, Alvin applied applied for visa to return to Michigan - destination was the residence of sister, Luella Gossman in Port Huron, Michigan.
The family settled on a farm in the Exeter - Hensall area of Ontario. In the 1940s they sold the property and moved to the town of Exeter.
Occupations that Alvin pursued included farmer, harness maker, and machinist.

At South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Sunday, February 22, 2004, Melvin S. WURM of R.R.#2, Zurich in his 67th year. Survived by [....]. Predeceased by his parents Alvin and Margaret WURM, sisters Emma and her husband Harold BEAVER, Grace and her husband James STEAD, brothers Edgar and Harold and his wife Verna WURM, brothers-in-law Roy CAMPBELL, Sidney TAYLOR and Gerald LAWSON and a nephew Carl WURM. Friends may call at the Hopper Hockey Funeral Home, 370 William Street, 1 west of Main, Exeter on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 25th at 11 a.m. with Bob HEYWOOD officiating. Interment Exeter Cemetery. Donations to the London Health Sciences Centre Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. There will be a Legion Service in the funeral home Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. under the auspices of Hensall Legion #468. Condolences may be forwarded through www.hopperhockeyfh.com
