Second son, Edgar, was born in Detroit in 1917. In 1927, Alvin applied applied for visa to return to Michigan - destination was the residence of sister, Luella Gossman in Port Huron, Michigan. The family settled on a farm in the Exeter - Hensall area of Ontario. In the 1940s they sold the property and moved to the town of Exeter. Occupations that Alvin pursued included farmer, harness maker, and machinist.
