Wayne died at Darrow Hospital in Alexandria, Douglas Co., Minnesota from injuries sustained from being caught in the wheel of a horse drawn Wagon while trying to keep the team from running away. He caught the bridle of the horse and was thrown when the horse reared and then run over by the heavy wagon.
