Inez died on May 15, 1929 in Ellicottville, New York. An online cemetery listing noted that she is buried at the Eddyville Cemetery in the Town of Mansfield, Cattaraugus County, however no gravestone was found for her during a walking of the cemetery. Her obituary, from the Cattaraugus County Republican, follows:
Mrs. Inez Ballard dies in Ellicottville
Ellicottville, May 15 ? Mrs. Inez Ballard, 59 yers old, wife of Fred Ballard, died Wednesday morning at 3 a.m. at her home on West Washington street, this village, following an illness of five days? duration.
She is survived by her husband, and five nieces, Mrs. F. F. Chase, Gardenville; Mrs. Jess Sheldon, Otto; Mrs. Merritt Smith, Leon; Drive, Jamestown; also one nephew, Howard M. Ballard, Franklinville, a former resident of this village.
Mrs. Ballard was born in the town of Mansfield in 1870, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Newton King. She had made Ellicottville and vicinity home during her entire life. She was a member of the Woman?s Benefit Association of this place.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
