- The family resided in Berlin (now Kitchener), Ontario where Mathias was employed as a carpenter. They attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church. The census of 1861 shows this couple residing in Berlin, Ontario in a 1 1/2 storey frame house along with the family of Henry Wurm and Elizabeth Steinacker.
Mathias died on Sept 4, 1896. His wife predeceased him on May 12, 1880 following an illness of one week. Following the death of his wife, Mathias lived with his son, Conrad.

- Andreas Wurm was confirmed in the St. Paul's Lutheran Evangelical Church, Berlin, Ontario on January 7, 1861 at the age of 16. His confirmation appears twice in the records of the church. The first instance, on page 57, is crossed out. The second instance is on page 58.
