The couple first purchased Lot 26 of Con 3. They found the farm to be poor for farming and moved in 1883 to lot 25, conc 4, Chapman, Parry Sound, Ontario. This new location was across the road from the Hoerner farmstead where Elizabeth's parents remained.

Grandsons Are Pallbearers at Magnetawan Funeral
The funeral of the late William Scharman was held on Monday, October 24th, at 3:30pm from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Magnetawan, with Rev. Gould from North Bay conducting the service. Mr. Scharman died on October 21st, in St. Joseph's General Hospital, Parry Sound.
He was born on January 18, 1880, son of the late Henry Scharman and Elizabeth Wurm of Magnetawan. He was in his 87th year.
He was married to the late Rose Haerlen, who predeceased him and lived with his daughter Mrs. Hilda Johnston, Parry Sound for 18 years before going to Belvedere Heights in December 1965.
He leaves seven children, Mrs. Hilda Johnston, Parry Sound, Mrs. Victor Majuery (Mena), Georgetown, Mrs. William Hewitt (Margaret), Burks Falls, Carman and Victor of Richmond Hill, Wilber in Germany, and Mrs. Harry Lacombe (Joan) of Willowdale. A son Paul died in infancy. There are seventeen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. Also one sister Laura (Mrs. Otto Kudart), Blakesburg, Iowa.
The body rested at Dempsters Funeral Home in Burks Falls. Interment was made in Chapman Cemetery.
The pallbearers were five grandsons, ... and one grandson-in-law, ...
