The Rev. Charles E. Reidt, 73, a retired Congressional minister, died last Friday at his home in Osterville, New York.
He was born in Howick Township but went to the United States as a young man.
He was graduated from North Central Academy and North Central College of Napperville, Ill. He received his bachelor of divinity degree from Yale University in 1921.
The Rev. Mr. Reidt was ordained to the ministry in 1921 in Hamilton, Ohio.
He was a Y.M.C.A. official in Detroit before assuming Congregational Pastorates in Stony Creek, Conn., Hamilton, Ohio, Decatur, Ill., and Waltham.
He retired from the ministry in 1954 while serving as director of the Deering Community Center in Deering, where he was also pastor of the Congregational Church.
He leaves his wife, Mabel (Bechtol); a son, Theodore C. Reidt of Lockport, N.Y.; and two daughters, Mrs. Carlyle F. Brand of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Warren H. Johnson, wife of the pastor of South Congregational Church of Centerville and six grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. George Heipel of Harriston and a brother, Mr. Henry Reidt of Minto Township. |
