  • Notes
    • From Ezra Eby Book

Rev. Samuel Schlichter, "was born October 17th, 1821. He was first married to Catharine Detweiler who was born March 12th, 1825, and died March 4th, 1860. After her decease he was married to Mary Break who was born July 16th, 1832, and died December 16th, 1889. They resided near New Dundee, on his father's old place. About the year 1852 he was ordained minister of the old Mennonite Church but in 1854 or 1855 when a division of that body took place, he went with the new party of which body he was a noble worker. As a minister he was sincere and a diligent worker in the cause of his Master. When the death summons called him away, the church lost one of its ablest men. He died July 17th, 1873. His family consisted of ten children, of whom the eldest four were born unto his first wife.
