DEICHERT - Peter II and Elizabeth
Peter Deichert II (b. 1863), was the third child of Peter Deichert I and his wife Lisetta Bauer. The family lived in Zurich near the blacksmith shop owned and operated by Peter I (d. 1865), and his brother John. After Peter I's death, Lisetta married Peter Rothermel, who bought the N1/2 of S1/2 Lot 27, Con. 9 (25 acres) in 1868 from John Clausius. The family lived in a house on this farm.
In 1871, Peter Rothermel bought the N1/2 of the same lot, 50 acres, from the Canada Company. The two parcels of land were bought by Peter Deichert in 1885 from his stepfather.
Henry Pfaff had bought S1/2 of Lot 28, Con. 9 from the Canada Company in 1877. Ten years later he sold this parcel of land to Peter Deichert II. This is where Peter and his wife, Elizabeth Bloch (daughter of Henry Bloch and Anna Albrecht) settled after their marriage in 1888. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1938. Peter (d. 1944) and Elizabeth (d. 1946) had a family of 12 children, ten of whom survived childhood (one child was stillborn and Herbert died at the age of two).......
