Died:
- FISHER, Geraldine - Passed away quietly, on Thursday, February 15, 2007, after coping with a very rare brain disorder for many years.
She is survived by [...]. Many true and faithful friends also mourn her passing.
Gerry was born in Stratford, Ontario, and raised in Kitchener. After graduation from the School of Nursing, Hospital for Sick Children and successful post-graduate studies at the University of Western Ontario and University of Toronto, Gerry joined the Department of Public Health in Toronto. She was part of the first group of nurses to establish the Division of Mental Health and remained a mental health nurse until her retirement.
Gerry's interest in travel and people took her to all provinces of Canada, to Europe, the Middle East and East Africa. She was an enthusiastic birder and lover of the out of doors. Her sparkle and enthusiasm for life will be missed.
Special thanks to the staff at West Park Long Term Care who have cared for her with compassion and concern for several years.
A service to celebrate Gerry's life will be held at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere Ave., east of Jane subway, on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 1 p.m. Cremation has already taken place.
In lieu of flowers, Gerry's favorite charities are the Save The Children Fund Canada, 4141 Yonge St., Suite 300, Toronto, ON M7Y 5V1, the Daily Bread Food Bank, Toronto or the Yonge Street Mission.
