    Torkild Kjetilsson was born on the farm Skatvet, Sigdal parish, and was baptized on May 16, 1756 in Holmen church, Sigdal parish, to parents Kjetil Torkildsson and Ingeborg Larsdotter. In the far left column (page 61) under "1756 Holmen", and the 6th entry down, it states: The 16th May (1756) Kjetil Skatvet`s child, `Torkild` (was baptized). It then states the names of the Godparents (sponsors). And it also states 3 pages previous to this record (page 55), that Kjetil Torkildsson Skatvet`s wife was "introduced" back into the Holmen congregation on June 20, 1756.

    On page 337, on the left hand side and the 6th entry down, it states:
    the 28th Dec. (1788) engaged were "bachelor" Torkild Kjetilsson and "maiden/never married" Ragnhild Olsdotter. The bestmen/sponsors were Jens Reidarsson Grens'eie' and Nils Gren.

    On page 377, on the left hand side, under the 1789 column and the 5th entry down, it states: The 20th of March (1789) married were "bachelor" Torkild Kjetilsson and "maiden/never married" Ragnhild Olsdotter.

    Torkild Kjetilsson died on the Kvisle farm in 1791 and was buried on June 2, 1791 in Holmen church yard, Sigdal parish. On page 271, under the Holmen column, year 1791, entry #13, it states: the 2nd of June (1791), buried was Torkild Kjetilsson Kvisle'eie', age 35 years.

    Directly underneath the entry for Torkild Kjetilsson is listed the death of his nephew, Kristoffer Jakobsson. Kristoffer Jakobsson was born 1786 on the Desarud farm and was baptised July 23, 1786 in Holmen church, Sigdal parish. Kristoffer died in 1791 on the Desarud farm and was buried June 2, 1791 in Holmen church yard, Sigdal parish, on the same day as his uncle Torkild Kjetilsson Kvisle. It states Kristoffer`s age at time of death as 10 months old, which clearly must be an error, as his brother Ola was baptised in December of 1790 making him about 6-7 months old at the time of Kristoffer`s death.

    Excerpt is from the section under the Kvisle farm and on a smaller section of Kvisle where Torkild Kjetilsson lived called Eie. On the left hand side of page 55 we see an entry for Torkild Kjetilsson Bjørndalseie: it says he was born in 1730 (which is clearly a typo or mistake) and he married in 1789 to Ragnhild Olsdotter Kvislebråtan, born in 1765 and they had a daughter Ingebjørg born in 1790. They lived at that time on Kvisleeie. Ingebjørg died on the Flaget farm in 1820. Torkild died in 1791, 35 years old. The widow (Ragnhild) was married in 1793 to Tolleiv Gulleiksson Flaget and moved to the Flaget farm.

    From the bygdebok we see that Torkild and Ragnhild named their daughter ‘Ingebjørg’ (after Torkild`s mother, Ingebjørg Larsdotter) and not Ingeborg as we see normally written in the church records.
