• Documents » Slide Show		Baptism record of Ingeborg Torkildsdotter Ingeborg Torkildsdotter was born on the Kvisle farm, Sigdal parish, and was baptized February 14, 1790 in Holmen church, Sigdal parish. Page 155 under the 1790 Holmen column, the 2nd entry down, it states: "eodem die" (meaning the same date as the entry above) baptized was Torkild Kjetilsson Kvisle'eies' female child "Ingeborg". It then states the names of the Godparents (sponsors). And it also states that Ragnhild Olsdotter was "introduced" back into the Holmen congregation on March 21, 1790. To determine the baptism date, we have to go back two records previous to this one, back on page 153, where it gives us a date of February 14, (1790).
  		1801 census Sigdal parish, Buskerud County, Norway In 1801 Ingeborg Torkildsdotter is living with her mother and step-father on the Nævra farm, in Sigdal parish. Ragnhild Olsdotter remarried to Tolleiv Gulleiksson. Entry #555 lists Tolleiv Gulleiksson, husband, married first time, his occupation was crofter/tenant farmer with farming and also an artilleryman/gunner (soldier). Entry #556 lists Ragnhild Olsdotter, his wife, married second time. Also listed are their three sons Torkild Tolleivsson, Ola Tolleivsson and Hallvard Tolleivsson. Entry #560 lists Ingeborg Torkildsdotter, husband`s step-daughter.
  		Excerpt relating to Torkild Kjetilsson Bjørndalseie taken from Sigdal bygdebok, "Sigdal Og Eggedal", written in 1953 by Andreas Mørch. Excerpt is from the section under the Kvisle farm and on a smaller section of Kvisle where Torkild Kjetilsson lived called Eie. On the left hand side of page 55 we see an entry for Torkild Kjetilsson Bjørndalseie: it says he was born in 1730 (which is clearly a typo or mistake) and he married in 1789 to Ragnhild Olsdotter Kvislebråtan, born in 1765 and they had a daughter Ingebjørg born in 1790. They lived at that time on Kvisleeie. Ingebjørg died on the Flaget farm in 1820. Torkild died in 1791, 35 years old. The widow (Ragnhild) was married in 1793 to Tolleiv Gulleiksson Flaget and moved to the Flaget farm. From the bygdebok we see that Torkild and Ragnhild named their daughter ‘Ingebjørg’ (after Torkild`s mother, Ingebjørg Larsdotter) and not Ingeborg as we see normally written in the church records.
  		Death record of Ingebjørg Torkildsdotter The death record of Ingebjørg Torkildsdotter in 1820 states that she died while living on the Nævra farm. On the right page (page 205) and entry #7 it states: Ingebjørg Torkildsdotter Nævraeie, “husmanns barn'” (tenant farmer or crofter`s child), age 26, died March 24, 1820 and was buried March 30, 1820 in Sigdal parish. (Note that calculation of age was not exact.) In the Sigdal bygdebok, "Sigdal Og Eggedal", it mentions that Ingebjørg died on the Flaget farm, but in the church record it states she was living on the Nævra farm, just as she was in the 1801 Census.
