PHILLIP BEAVER - 2nd son of Peter Beaver (I)
Phillip was the second son of Peter Beaver (I) and as far as I have been able to ascertain was born in Alsace in 1811. He was about 21 years of age when he came to Puslinch Township with his parents and was given lot 26, of which he cleared 40 acres. When they came from Toronto, he brought a team of horses with him and these were the first horses in Puslinch. It is said that he was a great horseman, and so, it is ironical that his death was caused as a result of a kick from a horse. He married Christina Preszcator, born 1823, died 1916. They had 4 children.
1. Mary Beaver who married Andrew Triebner. I have been unable to trace any record of Mary to date.
2. Phillip Beaver, born 1841
3. Peter Beaver III, born 1842
4. Christian Beaver, born Jan. 23, 1847
In 1846, at age 35, Phillip Beaver was leading his horses to drink, when they reared, one kicking him in the stomach. He died 3 days later. Phillip's brother, Nicholas (I), then farmed the land until his nephews were of age. At the Registry Office in Guelph, I learned that Peter Beaver, the elder, received lot 26 from the Crown on 7 Nov. 1850.
About 1849, Christina married Diebold Stahl. He came from Morriston in 1851 on horseback and purchased lot 8, concession 6, Stephen Township, just south of Crediton, from the Canada Company for 66 pounds. Christina followed and they had 8 children. Diebold died in 1901, age 81 and they are both buried in the Crediton Cemetery.

Phillip was born in Puslinch in 1841. As he was 5 years old when his father was killed, he most likely spent his early years on the Stahl farm south of Crediton with his mother and her second husband. He married Elizabeth Mast who was born in 1843 and died Jan. 14, 1913. They farmed lot 20, on the south boundary of Hay, 1+ miles east of Dashwood. Phillip died in 1930. Their 8 children are listed below, but not necessarily according to age.
