  On November 19, 1915 Hastings Robert Alger was recruited at Simcoe, Ontario to the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force. At that time he actively belonged to the 139th Regiment. As next of kin, Hastings listed his grandmother, Mrs. Lottie Haney of 34 Stumbert Street, Toronto, Ontario.
