DEICHERT, Georg Heinrich
The burial of Georg Heinrich Deichert was not included in the burial records of the original cemetery. Georg Heinrich's baptism was recorded and the church archive cabinet even has a copy of his baptismal certificate displayed in it. For reasons unknown there are no written records in the church of deaths/burials for the years 1868 and 1869. When the cairn was opened up in the autumn of 2011 and the headstones housed within it were revealed, date of death was then confirmed.

St Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery (original site), Zurich, Hay Township, Huron County, ON, Canada
Notes: This monument near the public school in Zurich, Ontario marks the spot of the original cemetery of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church. In the early 1920s, the headstones at this site were gathered and placed inside this cairn. Eventually the monument was sealed in an effort to deter vandals. No map of plot sites is known to exist. The church does have a record of burials which was translated by a kind visitor from Germany in recent years. The translated record has been reproduced below in its entirety.
UPDATE March 2012 - The cairn pictured above has been removed. Efforts to ensure recognition, restoration and remembrance are being undertaken at present by the 150th Anniversary Committee of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Zurich, Ontario.
