Baptism record of Gotfred Martinius Gubberud
The record of baptism indicates that Gotfred Martinius Torvaldsson was born Aug. 12, 1884 and baptized Feb. 15, 1885 in the Snarum church, Modum parish. His parents were "verksarbeidar" (worker or labourer on a factory) Torvald Gulbrandsson and wife, Anne Karine Bertilsdotter. It states they were living on Persbråten (Skretteberg) at the time of his birth. Gotfred`s grandfather, (owner, freeholder) Bertil Olson Skretteberg was a godparent as well as (bachelors) Ole Bertilsson & Torger Bertilsson.
It appears that both Gotfred and his brother Gustav were born on Persbråten (Skretteberg), but took their father`s farm name of Gubberud at some time while they were living in the United States.
