    Im Jahr Christi achtzehnhundert und sechszehen den acht und zwanzigsten Feb wurden Nicolaus Wurm von Herbstein alt 38 Jahr und Anna Barbara Lauerin von Uppertshausen alt 32 Jahr ohne Proclamation eingesegnet. Zeugen waren Johannes Ritter und Johannes Hohl. Welche gegenwärtiges Protocoll nebst mir den Pfarrer, der die Copulation verichtet unterschreiben.

    TRANSLATION:

    In the year of Christ, eighteen hundred and sixteen, the 28th of February, Nicolaus Wurm of Herbstein age 38 years was married to Anna Barbara Lauer of Uppertshausen age 32 years, without the publication of banns.

    Witnesses were Johannes Ritter and Johannes Hohl, who, along with me, the pastor who performed the marriage, sign the document below.

    NOTE:

    Uppertshausen no longer exists. Uppertshausen was a day labourer's home on the bank of the Ohm opposite of Wäldershausen (between Bleidenrod and Homberg) belonging to the Freiherr (= baron) von Schenk.

      Anna Barbara Lauer was born in Holzhausen, Hesse, Germany.

      There are several places named Holzhausen in Hesse. Our source from www.ahnenforschung-berg.de began searching and finally found the birth record of Anna Barbara Lauer in a nearby place which is called Rauischholzhausen today. It was renamed at some time to distinguish it from other Holzhausens.

      Rau was the name of the noble family that had their castle there. So their familiy name was placed in front of the place name.

      So Rauischholzhausen means Rau's Holzhausen.

      Her confirmation record reads "nata in Holzhausen in Unterhessen" which translates to "born in Holzhausen in Lower Hesse.
