Letter dated August 8 1892. Written by G. Adam Gaiser to his son, Adam.
Loosely translated as follows:
“Stiefen, 8th August 1892
Much beloved son Adam Gaiser
God bless you.
I have received your letter and saw in it that you are healthy and well. So far we all, too, are healthy and well. Only that I am plagued with rheumatism and cannot walk well. I wish you a lot of luck with your missing (?) Buffalo-cow and hope that she will be paid fair and that you haven’t any damage (financial loss)”
We have got very warm and dry weather as it is in summer. So that it is difficult working in the fields. The harvest of wheat was as good as before. Only the potatoes are small this year. I don’t know to write you much more it is always the same (the old / as it was before) I and Martha have it fine together this summer. We have not so much labour in the field as before.
With this I will end my writing and (you) know I am not a good writer. You must have patience with me because I write so little to you. A greeting also to you from Martha as well as from your mother. I remain your friend and father and greet you well.
G. Adam Gaiser
I asked myself as well, if you are lucky with your Buffallo-cow if you do something with her.”
